What is the Larchmont Boulevard Association?

The Larchmont Boulevard Association, organized in 1956, is a non-profit volunteer organization of Larchmont area businesses, property owners and professional firms who work together to enhance their local business community.

L.B.A. relies on the Members’ annual dues and volunteerism to fund the association's various activities and services to the community, including:

  • Distribution of an ANNUAL DIRECTORY OF MEMBERS to 20,000 homes and businesses in the Greater Hancock Park area.

  • Monitor and fund trash pick-up three times weekly in LBA-provided containers on the sidewalk. This is not a city-provided service, as many people assume.

As the number of people (and trash) on Larchmont has increased, we urgently need to increase this service.

  • Oversee and fund a security guard to patrol Larchmont Boulevard between First and Beverly for 30 hours per week. We would like to increase this to 40 hours per week.

  • Underwrite the purchase and installation of STREET BANNERS to promote Larchmont Boulevard shops and services at various events during the year.

  • Provide a web page on the LBA's www.larchmont.com at a nominal fee. A free link to an existing web site.

  • Act as LIAISON between City Officials and the business community, regarding matters of mutual concern. Provide leadership with regard to filming in the area.

  • PROMOTION and PUBLICITY of L.B.A. sponsored events:
    The Larchmont Boulevard Family Fair
    Holiday Open House
    Two annual sidewalk sales

Larchmont Family Fair - Organizes this annual fair, the L.B.A.'s biggest event of the year, usually held the Sunday before Halloween.

The Fair hosts over 60 charitable groups who set up fundraising booths on the Boulevard between First Street and Beverly Boulevard.

The committee is responsible for securing entertainment, security, decorations, electricity, insurance, promotions and advertising. Various firms and shops help to further underwrite the cost of the rides and entertainment.

This public event draws approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people each year, and often serves to introduce Larchmont Boulevard to many first-time visitors.

Membership - Welcomes new businesses to the Boulevard and directs the membership campaign. It is responsible for mailing out application forms and, with the assistance of the Treasurer, collects dues. The committee also helps to prepare the Annual Directory and arranges for its distribution.

Nomination - Nominates members to the Board of Directors, who are elected by the membership at large. The Board has 13 members, each of whom serve two years in a staggered formation of six and seven Directors.

The Board elects officers from among its 13 members. Officers include President, First and Second Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer. Elections are usually held in November with installation in January.

Social Mixer Committee - Organizes our monthly get-togethers to allow local merchants and professionals to network with each other and provide a forum for visitors and interested residents to meet the people involved with the L.B.A. The committee is responsible for selection of the host places, food and notification of membership.

Tenant Search - Works with Realtors, landlords, prospective tenants and the surrounding neighborhoods to create an exciting and profitable retail environment for the Larchmont Village Community.
